Concrete Forming and Pour: Commercial Site Visit

Today I will be following a concrete foundation pour for a bank which is being built up the road from where I live in northern New Jersey.  This morning I stopped by the site to take some pictures of the forms and and shoring being used.

The forms being used on this job were plywood forms with dimensional lumber fastened with removable clamps along with form ties to hold the forms together.  Once the forms are removed the ties will be cut on the ends and left within the concrete.  These forms are great for foundation walls because the form ties provide equally distributed pressure along the forms.  After talking to the site foreman I found out that they will be using a pump truck later today to pour the concrete into the forms.
Due to a steep excavation and cut back shoring was needed on the backside of the site.
This shoring ensures that the forms have support to keep from toppling over once the weight of the concrete is added.  Smaller shores have also been added on the other sides of the forms however they are much smalled because the width of the cutback is a lot smaller.
I will be returning to the site later today to take a few more pictures of the concrete pour.
